Go Red with K&P

You may be wondering, what's all of this business about wearing red? Go Red is movement to encourage awareness for heart health in women. The American Heart Association has worked passionately to dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the NUMBER ONE KILLER of WOMEN. Claiming nearly 500,000 lives each year, heart disease is a formidable threat. Thankfully, it is preventable. So what can you do? You can spread the word, educate yourself on symptoms (often times different from the symptoms in men), be your own health advocate, and make those positive...

Friday, December 7, the K & P employees got together for their annual holiday party. This year the festivities were held at Pura Vida near Public Square. Delicious appetizers were served, followed by a wonderful dinner. Everyone sparkled in their best holiday clothing....especially Craig. A few adventurous folks walked
over to the Horsheshoe Casino to check it out and possibly win some cash.
The only person missing in the perfect evening was Jan. She loved the holiday dinners. Check out some more of our pics on the K&P facebook page.

This Thursday November 8th, Kevin Kopanski will be showing his work from his travels to Uganda with the Polutry Project. This is is the first time since Kevin has been back that the work will be viewed by the public.

The event will be held at Mahall's 20 lanes in Lakewood and starts at 6pm.

In 2011, Kevin Kopanski traveled to eastern Uganda with the Poultry Project team (Kelly, Emily, Joe) and an architect (Emily Axtman) to document their work. That summer, they built over 50 chicken coops, began working with two additional TASO centers (Soroti and...

I’ve worked with Jan for 40 years. She was first a co-worker, and then a business partner. I have hundreds of great memories and dozens of stories. Boy do I have stories.

There was the time we were shooting for American Greetings in Montana, driving down a remote one-lane road when we saw a scenic pasture with horses. We pulled over in the grass to check it out. No one in sight, no buildings in sight, and the lighting was just right. We decided to ask for forgiveness instead of wasting light looking for permission. I was to jump...

It was quite a few years ago when a young photographer walked through the doors to show his work and get a tour of the studio. He was both talented and charming and you could tell both Bob and Jan instantly liked this kid. But it wasn’t until he was on the tour of the second floor. Jeff downie leaned over the railing and yelled to Jan, “ this is the nicest prop room I have ever seen Mrs. kalman.” I instantly thought what an ass kisser. I remember looking at Jan and she had the biggest grin on her...

The world lost one amazing person today.
Jan Kalman has been in my life since I was born, and she
has always been one of the greatest people I have ever had the privilege to know.
I remember so many fun times with her in the studio......
And when my sister had to have surgery when I was 7 and
she was 8, I went to K&P for the day with my Dad.
Jan took time out of her busy day to look after me and play games all day. She took me to the market and I got to...

The thing I will miss the most about Jan is how she truly loved us all and treated us as if we were her own children. She was the person we all went to talk to when any of us was upset. Any time anyone at the studio was having problems, feeling sad, going through a difficult time, Jan was the one we all went to first. In fact, it became a mantra for anyone who needed a little special love to 'Go talk to Jan'. I remember when my nephew was born and my sister in law had been...

Jan would always be looking for a way to help. She would come downstairs and ask "Do you need me?" She would pull sets, move tables, do dishes, anything that needed to be done she would do. And if there wasn't anything else I would always say "Yes! I need a hug". And she gave really good hugs.
